HOW TO SAFELY SET UP THE CAMPING STOVE
Here is the most important instruction video, how to assemble the stove. This video is from Coleman, but basically all stoves work the same way (we carry better stove brands).
The most important to remember is to always disconnect the regulator with the propane bottle when packing up (so nothing is connected to the propane bottle ensuring no propane can ever leak).

TENT SET UP INFORMATION
With all our tents, we first layout the footprint/groundsheet. Note for car camping we give you a thicker, stronger ground tarp to use under the tent as this is the best way to protect the bottom of the tent and most convenient for you as you can easily keep the tent clean and separate from the groundsheet when taking down the tent. We also supply you with heavy duty stakes and a hammer, to easily get the stakes in and out of the ground. The stakes are really strong as most of the time the ground can be solid. If you are not able to get the stake in the ground, you probably hit a rock underground with the stake and it is better to find another spot a few inches away.
The tents differ slightly with set up but generally you need to always:
1. Look for best spot to set up the tent on the campground:
– Make sure it is not a potential low area where water can sit, when it starts to rain.
– Clear the spot of larger and sharper stones if you see any.
2. Lay out ground sheet.
3. Take tent out and separate fly, inside tent and poles. Assemble all poles.
4. Lay out inside tent (watch for front / back preference) and stake out on the 4 corners.
5. Insert the main poles through sleeves (4 & 6 person tents). Some tents just have clips (2 & 3 person tents).
4. Use all clips, and insert the smaller (cross) poles.
5. Assemble fly. As a last step for larger tent, sometimes there is a last pole for the fly.

PLEASE FIND BELOW VIDEOS ON HOW TO SET UP THE FOLLOWING TENTS (We supply all these tents)

MARMOT HALO 4 tent
The first one is a video made by us (Jens Outfitters is part of Rent-a-tent Canada in Vancouver) 🙂

MARMOT HALO 6
The Marmot Halo 6 is one of the highest quality 6 person tents in the market. When you are with a family of 4 or 5 people and for all weather conditions- this is the best tent.

NORTH FACE WAWONA 6
The North Face Wawona 6 is a fantastic family tent, with the option to have a somewhat larger vestibule, and for most camping in the spring and summer, this tent is a great choice. For camping in shoulder seasons, we can recommend the Halo 6 as it will keep you somewhat warmer with the complete full fly tent cover.
Please note to always use also the supplied groundsheet first on the floor. Use the heavy duty stakes and hammer that we supply as well to the tent for easy set up. Note in the video that the first time set up the pole may be somewhat tight, but make sure the tent fabric is well-spread.

NORTH FACE SEQUOIA 4 / WAWONA 4
In this video, they did not attach the fly yet, but that is basically the same as with the Wawona 6, with the difference that the Sequoia 4/ Wawona 4 does not have the large front vestibule.

BACKPACKS
One of our most rented backpacks is the TERRA 65. Most people that go overnight hiking need approximately 65 Liter plus minus 10L, depending on a few factors of course. 65L is the most common size, that is a size that prevents you from taking too much, but also is large enough for most trips, whether you plan to visit Garibaldi, the Sunshine Coast trail or Westcoast trail.

WHAT TO BRING ON A SOLO HIKING TRIP
For Canada, we would add the bear spray, as a tape option we prefer the strong duct tape. Always bring 1-2 garbage/trash bags or ziplock bags as well.
